Samsung MagicINFO alternative
without a server in your network

Samsung MagicINFO is the content and device manager for Samsung's commercial displays, available as a server in your own network or as MagicINFO Cloud. Organisations that look for a MagicINFO alternative usually want to stop maintaining a server, mix screen brands, or see a price before they talk to sales. Here is how TVpilot and MagicINFO compare, honestly, including when MagicINFO is the better choice.

Free plan, no credit card required. Paid plans from €5 a month.

The short answer

MagicINFO comes as MagicINFO Server, run in your own network with a paid maintenance service for upgrades, or as MagicINFO Cloud, hosted by Samsung on AWS or Azure for one all-inclusive price per year, available in North America, Europe and China. Prices are on request. It manages Samsung commercial displays, with deep device control, a 400+ function API and add-ons for insights and live data. TVpilot is hosted, free for 1 screen and €5 a month for 3 screens, and works with any screen through the Amazon Signage Stick, a Raspberry Pi or a browser. MagicINFO is the stronger fit for a large estate of Samsung displays; TVpilot is the simpler one for mixed screens and small fleets.

What really differs

A server, Samsung's cloud, or hosted for you

MagicINFO Server runs in your own network as an integrated content and device manager, and you keep it current through Samsung's paid MagicINFO Maintenance Service. MagicINFO Cloud removes the server: Samsung hosts it on AWS or Azure in three service tiers (Standard, Premium and Premium Plus) that differ in monitoring and support hours, and it is available in North America, Europe and China.

TVpilot is hosted only, in the EU. There is nothing to install in your network and nothing to upgrade: players update themselves at night and the dashboard is always current. TVpilot cannot be installed on premises, so if your network rules require that, MagicINFO Server fits and TVpilot does not.

Price on request or on the website

Samsung publishes no MagicINFO prices on its own pages. MagicINFO Cloud is one all-inclusive price per year with no upfront licence fees, and you get a quote from Samsung's sales team or a display partner.

TVpilot's prices are public: free for 1 screen, Starter €5 a month with 3 screens included and €2 per extra screen (10 screens for €19 a month), Pro €29 a month with 10 screens and every Premium feature, Business €99 a month with 25 screens. Prices exclude VAT, and you can start without talking to anyone.

Samsung displays or any screen

MagicINFO is built for Samsung commercial displays, from single screens to video walls, and goes deep on them: central device management, tagging and groups, real-time health monitoring of software and hardware, KNOX-based security, playback in up to 8K and a 400+ function API. For a large estate of Samsung displays that depth is hard to match.

TVpilot works with any brand. A Samsung or other smart TV opens TVpilot in its built-in browser where the model allows it; otherwise you plug in an Amazon Signage Stick, a Raspberry Pi (with HDMI-CEC TV power scheduling), a Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box. TVpilot has no native Tizen app, so it does not control Samsung-specific display settings.

Content and live data

MagicINFO includes content creation with templates and QR codes, playlist scheduling and proof of play, with MagicINFO Insight (playback history and dashboards) and Datalink (real-time data) as paid add-ons.

TVpilot includes a Designer, AI Studio and live plugins on every plan: weather, news, Google and Trustpilot reviews, calendars, a meeting room panel, Power BI, Shopify, bol.com, Mollie and SumUp dashboards, NS departures and ANWB traffic. Proof-of-play certificates, advertiser reports and video walls up to 4×4 are on paid plans.

Honest advice

Which one should you pick?

Choose Samsung MagicINFO if

  • You run a large estate of Samsung commercial displays and want deep control over them.
  • Your network rules require the signage server on premises.
  • You need a broad device API or KNOX-based security.
  • You already buy displays and support through a Samsung partner.

Choose TVpilot if

  • You do not want to run or upgrade a server in your network.
  • You want to see the price on the website and start free.
  • Your screens are a mix of brands, or ordinary TVs.
  • You want live plugins and a Designer included in the price.

Moving from MagicINFO to TVpilot

MagicINFO usually runs on a server in your own network, out of reach for TVpilot, so there is no automatic import. Export or download your files from MagicINFO and upload them in TVpilot under Media, many at once or straight from Google Drive or Dropbox. It takes a few minutes; PDFs become one slide per page.

For each screen, open the TVpilot player URL in the display's browser where the model allows it, or connect an Amazon Signage Stick or a Raspberry Pi to the HDMI port, and pair it once with the claim code. You can move screen by screen while MagicINFO keeps running.
