Yodeck alternative
with screens included in the price

Yodeck is one of the best-known digital signage platforms for small businesses, and a good one. If you are looking for a Yodeck alternative, the reason is usually the bill: Yodeck charges for every screen, every month. TVpilot includes screens in a plan instead, so 10 screens cost €19 a month. Here is an honest comparison, including when Yodeck is the better pick.

Free plan, no credit card required. Paid plans from €5 a month.

The short answer

TVpilot and Yodeck both give you one screen for free and both run on a Raspberry Pi, Android TV and a web browser. The main difference is the pricing model: Yodeck charges $8 to $16 per screen per month on yearly billing, TVpilot charges per plan with screens included (€5 a month for 3, €2 for each extra screen). Yodeck is the larger platform, with more templates and apps, its own pre-configured player on yearly plans and a large review base. TVpilot is cheaper from the second screen on, bills monthly, and adds local integrations such as bol.com, Mollie and NS departures.

What really differs

Price: per screen or per plan

Yodeck charges per screen. Its Basic plan is $8 per screen per month on yearly billing, Premium $12 and Enterprise $16, so the bill grows in a straight line with every TV you add. That is easy to predict, and for one or two screens the difference is small.

TVpilot includes screens in the plan. Starter is €5 a month with 3 screens, and each extra screen is €2 a month, up to 10 screens on Starter. Pro is €29 a month with 10 screens and every Premium feature, and goes up to 100 screens. At 10 screens that is €19 a month on Starter, against $80 on Yodeck Basic; at 25 screens €59 on Pro, against $200. Euro and dollar amounts are as each vendor publishes them.

Hardware: a bundled player or your own choice

Yodeck's strongest card is hardware. On yearly plans it includes a pre-configured Raspberry Pi player, so a new screen arrives ready to plug in. It also runs on Android TV and in web browsers.

TVpilot has no player of its own. It runs on the Amazon Signage Stick (Amazon's 24/7 signage player, where TVpilot is a listed CMS), on any Raspberry Pi with one install command, on a Fire TV Stick with the TVpilot app, on Android TV and Chromecast with Google TV through a browser, and on any smart TV or computer that opens a player URL. The Raspberry Pi player switches the TV on and off on a schedule through HDMI-CEC and restarts itself within seconds after a crash. TVpilot has no native Samsung Tizen or LG webOS app; those TVs use their built-in browser.

Features: breadth against local data

Yodeck is the bigger catalog: it lists 160+ apps (Power BI, SharePoint, Google Drive, Canva, Teams among them), 800+ templates, an AI Agent that runs tasks in plain language, emergency alerts and offline playback, and SAML single sign-on on Enterprise.

TVpilot covers the everyday signage set (playlists of images, video, web pages and PDFs, per-slide schedules with expiry dates, a calendar per screen, a Designer, AI Studio, Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, YouTube and Power BI) and adds live data that most international platforms do not offer: bol.com, Mollie, Moneybird, SumUp and Picqer dashboards, NS and OV departures, ANWB traffic, Buienradar and Kiyoh reviews, next to Shopify, Stripe, Google and Trustpilot reviews and weather. Video walls up to 4×4, proof of play and an emergency alert are built in.

Teams, approvals and resellers

On TVpilot, Pro includes up to 3 users and 3 locations; Business (€99 a month, 25 screens included) adds a team of up to 25 users, unlimited locations, approval before publishing with a four-eyes option, your own logo and colours and a partner portal for resellers and agencies. Two-factor authentication is on every plan.

Yodeck's Enterprise plan adds custom roles, workspaces and encrypted player storage, and its free plan already allows unlimited users. If you need many users on very few screens, compare those limits for your own case.

Honest advice

Which one should you pick?

Choose Yodeck if

  • You want a pre-configured player in the box and plan to pay yearly.
  • You rely on a very large template library or on one of its 160+ apps that TVpilot does not offer.
  • You want a platform with a long track record and thousands of public reviews.
  • Your team needs many users on a single free screen.

Choose TVpilot if

  • You run more than a few screens and do not want to pay for each one separately.
  • You prefer monthly billing and no yearly commitment.
  • You already own the hardware: a Raspberry Pi, an Amazon Signage Stick, a Fire TV Stick or a smart TV.
  • You want live data from Dutch and European tools such as bol.com, Mollie, NS or Kiyoh on your screens.
  • You need approvals, your own branding or a reseller portal at a small-business price.

Moving from Yodeck to TVpilot

The Switch to TVpilot plugin connects to your Yodeck account with an API token and rebuilds your playlists in TVpilot with the same order and durations, including web pages and files Yodeck fetched from a link. Yodeck offers its API on the Premium and Enterprise plans. Files you uploaded to Yodeck yourself are not handed out by its API: upload them under Media with the same names and the import links them to the right slides.

Your screens move by installing TVpilot on the player and pairing it once. A Yodeck Raspberry Pi player can run the TVpilot player too: install it with one command.
